How to download Instagram audio
Copy the link first — tap the share arrow on the Reel and choose Copy link, or on a desktop browser copy the address straight from the bar. Full instagram.com/reel and instagram.com/p addresses both resolve, and so does the shortened instagram.com/share form the app hands you. What comes back is the creator’s finished mix, exactly as uploaded: voice, music and effects already blended into one track, with no separate stems and no isolated vocal. Private, deleted and region-locked posts cannot be read, and a link that worked yesterday may fail today for that reason. The audio stays licensed for playback inside Instagram, so reusing it in your own video, podcast or advert needs the rights holder’s consent.
1. Copy the link. Open the Reel, tap the share arrow, then choose Copy link. In a desktop browser, copy the address straight from the bar instead.
2. Paste it above. Full instagram.com/reel and instagram.com/p addresses both work, and so does the shortened instagram.com/share form the app hands you.
3. Press Find the audio. The page resolves the post, reads the media behind it and decodes the audio track. The current stage shows under the field, so you can tell whether it is still resolving or already reading the sound.
4. Choose MP3 or WAV. MP3 gives you a compact file that plays almost anywhere. WAV writes the decoded samples without extra compression, which suits editors that prefer uncompressed input. An original MP4 button sits alongside them for when you want the picture too.
5. Find the file. On iPhone it lands in Files under Downloads, on Android in your browser’s Downloads folder, and on a computer in the Downloads location you already use.
Straight answers about pulling audio from a public Instagram link: which addresses resolve, what the finished file contains, where it lands on your phone, and what you may do with it afterwards.
Open the Reel in the Instagram app, tap the share arrow, then choose Copy link. Paste that address into the field at the top of this page, press Find the audio, and once the post resolves select the MP3 button. The track then saves through your browser’s normal download flow.
Reel addresses, feed video posts and longer IGTV links from public accounts all resolve, including the shortened instagram.com/share form the app now produces. A link to a photo carousel, a profile page or a story will not work, because none of those carry a video track to read.
You get the creator’s finished mix, the same audio a viewer hears when the Reel plays. Voice, music bed, sound effects and any fades or level changes arrive blended into one track, exactly as they were published to Instagram.
No. Instagram only ever handed your browser one blended audio track, so there are no separate vocal and instrumental parts to return. Splitting a finished mix into stems needs the creator’s original project files, not a converted copy of the published video.
Expect the quality Instagram published, which is a compressed AAC track, typically around 128 kbps at a 44.1 kHz sample rate. The MP3 is written from those decoded samples, so pushing the encoder higher would add file size without adding any detail.
Yes. The page runs in any current mobile or desktop browser, and the conversion happens on the device you are already holding rather than on a remote machine. iPhone, Android, Windows, macOS and Linux all behave the same way.
On an iPhone it goes to the Downloads folder inside Files, where you can move it into a music or editing app. On Android it appears in the Downloads folder your browser uses, and on a computer it lands in your usual Downloads directory.
The usual causes are access, not the file itself. A post from a private account, a Reel the creator deleted, a video blocked in your region and age-restricted uploads all return nothing, so there is no audio track for the page to read.
Saving a sound inside Instagram bookmarks it for the app and keeps the original creator’s attribution attached when you reuse it in a new post. A downloaded file carries no such link. It is a plain audio track, so nothing travels with it to tell viewers where the sound came from.
The link you paste is sent so the post can be resolved, but the audio itself is not uploaded anywhere. Decoding and encoding run inside your own browser tab, and the finished file is assembled on the device in your hands before it is saved.
No account and no sign-in are required on either side of the handoff. You can copy a link from the web player or the app while signed out, and this page asks for nothing beyond the address itself to return the audio.
Reuse is a rights question rather than a technical one. A sound cleared for playback inside Instagram is licensed for that app, so moving it into a podcast, an advert or a monetised video can breach the original terms. Ask the rights holder, or work with a track you recorded or licensed yourself.
